ET and myeloproliferative disorders
What is a myeloproliferative disorder?
ET is one of a group of conditions known as chronic myeloproliferative disorders (MPDs). MPDs all affect the function of the bone marrow. They all involve an overproduction of one or more of the blood cells that are produced in the bone marrow.
The main types of chronic myeloproliferative disorder are:
- Essential thrombocythaemia
- Polycythaemia vera
- Chronic idiopathic myelofibrosis
